Strong partnerships

This development was built in partnership with Countryside Properties and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

Sales profits were spent on estate improvements, including a new park designed by residents. Because residents were so involved in the planning and design, Edward Woods estate is very popular with the people who live there.

Complex urban regeneration

Working in co-operation and consultation was crucial because the project presented many technical issues including:

  • creating an accessible artificial hill to allow access to the new shopping centre, which was 6.5m above the site level
  • agreeing extensive road closures, diversions to electrical cabling and rights of way
  • negotiating the re-design of the main road junction with the Highways Agency.
