Text Relay

Text Relay is a national telephone relay service that lets deaf and hard of hearing people access any services available through standard telephone services.

Using Text Relay

To use Text Relay, simply dial 18001 followed by the full telephone number from your textphone. If the call is answered by a hearing person a highly trained Text Relay Operator will be brought into the call.

If you're a hearing person

If you are a hearing person and want to contact someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, simply dial 18002 followed by the full telephone number.

Typetalk

Text Relay has previously been referred to as Typetalk, RNID Typetalk and BT TextDirect.
