Payroll giving

With payroll giving you can donate to us through your company, on a regular basis or as a one-off donation.

Payroll giving saves you money too. For every £5 you donate, only £3.90 is deducted from your salary.

How to set up a regular gift

If you want to set up a regular gift through payroll giving, this is what you need to do:

  • Check with your payroll department to make sure they are registered with an agency
  • Complete a payroll giving form
  • Submit it to your payroll department.

* You'll need to have your national insurance and employee/payroll number to hand. Once you've completed the form, it is a good idea to take a copy for your records.

How it works

Payroll giving, or 'Give As You Earn', is a powerful and effective way of supporting your chosen charities through work.

If your employer has a payroll giving agency set up, all you have to do is fill out a payroll giving form, and instruct them to direct a payment of your choice to us.

Payroll giving is tax free and because it's deducted from your wages only 79 pence will be deducted from your wages for every pound that you donate.

Example 1: If you pay 20% tax

If you pay 20% tax and give:

  • £5.00 (gross) it will cost you £3.90
  • £10.00 (gross) it will cost you £7.80
  • £15.00 (gross) it will cost you £11.70
  • £20.00 (gross) it will cost you £15.60.

If you pay a higher rate of tax, then it will only be 60 pence for every pound.

Example 2: If you pay 40% tax

If you pay 40% tax and give:

  • £5.00 (gross) it will cost you £3.00
  • £10.00 (gross) it will cost you £6.00
  • £15.00 (gross) it will cost you £9.00
  • £20.00 (gross) it will cost you £12.00.

Changing or stopping your regular gift

If you ever want to change or stop your regular gift, you don't need to contact us, just tell your payroll department at work.
