Our homes

We want the homes we build and the homes we already own and manage to be more environmentally friendly during their whole life.

New developments: All our new-build schemes are now built to The Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 to meet funding requirements set by the government. But we don't just tick things off the checklist without a second thought. We carefully consider our approach to meeting the Code, working hard to ensure that we are delivering the best value for our customers.

'Eco' schemes: We look to achieve above and beyond the requirements of the current Code for Sustainable Homes level where this is feasible.

Upgrade programmes: Our Asset Management department continually evaluates options and implements upgrade programmes to make existing NHH homes more environmentally friendly. Their aim is to minimise CO2 emissions produced by NHH homes as well as eliminating fuel poverty amongst our customers.

Vacant properties: When a NHH property becomes empty, we aim to take the opportunity to make real improvements to it for the benefit of its next resident.

Retrofit research: Our Asset Management department is currently working with various partners on an award-winning eco-refurbishment research project. 19 Sterndale Road in Hammersmith is a Victorian family-sized home which NHH have refurbished using affordable, low-carbon measures. We are in the process of analysing and evaluating the performance results.

Partners: In building and maintaining our homes we work with contractors who are recognised in their industry as champions of environmental responsibility, such as developers Skanska and maintenance contractors Willmott Dixon.
