What we do
Notting Hill Housing exists purely because of fundraising. The money raised helps fund important projects.
Background
In order to start changing the appalling housing and exploitation of poor families living in slum conditions in Notting Hill during the 1960s; Bruce Kenrick needed to raise some money to buy a property.
The first fundraising effort brought in £60,000 and a network of volunteers grew. Throughout the years, Notting Hill Housing has expanded but the small Fundraising Team still exists.
At Notting Hill Housing we want to provide homes people love, not homes they have to put up with.
We want to help people follow their dreams and fulfil their hopes, not feel confined by an unlovely, un-loved home.
How we work with other departments
As a registered social landlord, Notting Hill Housing has a moral responsibility to offer more than just accommodation to our tenants. We raise about £500,000 per year which helps to fund:
Young Peoples Services - We fund services for young people, such as the Achieve Project.
Employment Training department - Our Employment Training Department runs an employment and advice centre for all of our tenants.
Pathways Welfare Pool - The Pathways welfare fund is given to Pathways every year for small, important, discretionary purchases that will improve the life of someone we already care for.
Permanent Rented Housing Welfare Fund - We give a similar grant to permanent rented housing which covers the same issues but with a different group of residents.
Volunteering - So far this year the volunteering department have received donations of time equivalent to the value of £61,000. That's two or three salaries worth of people that Notting Hill Housing is getting for free essentially, because people want to help.
