Anti-social behaviour

Notting Hill Housing aims to provide a safe and secure environment for all its customers in their homes and community.

This policy applies to our leasehold customers.

We work with local authorities, the police and other agencies to prevent and control anti-social behaviour that may seriously harm our customers' quality of life. The information below tells you what you can expect from us if either you or a member of your household is subjected to anti-social behaviour.

What do we mean by anti-social behaviour?

  • Use / misuse of public / communal area (loitering / play / leaving refuse sacks)
  • Pets – fouling, noise, smells
  • Noise nuisance – inside apartments or in communal areas
  • Unauthorised HMO (house in multiple occupation)
  • Running a business
  • Abandoned Vehicles / parking problems
  • Graffiti / Vandalism / Criminal damage
  • Alcohol and Drug abuse and drug dealing
  • Prostitution
  • Threatening / violent behaviour
  • Racial / Sexual harassment

How does Notting Hill Housing prevent anti-social behaviour occurring?

Notting Hill Housing has a condition in all its tenancy agreements and leases prohibiting behaviour which will harass, or cause a nuisance or disturbance, to others. Staff emphasise the importance of this in early interviews with all new customers.

Our development team will work closely with those developing new estates or renovating properties to take crime and security and sound insulation into account in the design.

What are your responsibilities as a resident?

Many Notting Hill Housing homes are close together with shared communal spaces. Some noise and lifestyle differences are inevitable. We nevertheless expect our customers to be considerate to their neighbours and neighbourhood, to be responsible for the behaviour of their household and visitors, and to comply with the conditions of their tenancy or lease prohibiting nuisance and anti-social behaviour.
