Right to Acquire

The Right to Acquire scheme gives permanent rented housing tenants the legal right (if they qualify) to buy the home they currently rent.

How do I qualify for the scheme?

You could qualify if you are living in a house or flat provided by a government grant given to us after 1 April 1997. Homes provided before April 1997 will not be eligible. Some homes finished after 1 April 1997, but with the grant given before April 1997, will also not qualify.

There are a number of conditions attached to the Right to Acquire scheme. Also, some new homes are not included in the scheme. If you are eligible to buy the home you currently rent, we will offer you a discount on the open market value of the property.
