How to move home
There are lots of reasons why you may move home. Many settled accommodation tenants end their tenancy when they find permanent housing.
Some tenants move for personal reasons and some have to move temporarily or permanently so that we can carry out repairs.
Who do I need to tell that I am moving home?
You will need to call us on 020 8357 4540 as soon as you know that you are moving or when you have been made an offer of permanent housing.
You should also let your housing benefit office know.
What do I do with my keys?
It is important that you hand back keys at either our Hammersmith or Stratford Office on, or before, the day that your new tenancy begins. If you hand back keys any later, you will be charged full rent for the week. You must not post keys, as they may get lost and you will be charged until keys are received.
When you hand back keys you will be asked to sign a 'surrender of tenancy' form. This is a legal document that confirms that your tenancy has ended. We cannot end your tenancy until this form is signed.
You can drop into our Hammersmith or Stratford Office, without an appointment, 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, to hand back keys and sign a 'surrender of tenancy' form.

When will I be permanently re-housed?
The Home Options department of Notting Hill Housing only offers temporary housing and settled accommodation. You will need to contact your local authority to find out if you are eligible for permanent housing.
Each local authority has a different way of allocating permanent housing. Some keep a simple priority list and others have a bidding system which you need to keep up to date with to increase your chances of finding a permanent home.
