Young people
We provide a variety of accommodation-based services with different models of support for young people over the age of 16, such as care leavers and young mothers and babies.
These services are currently offered in Hammersmith & Fulham, Merton and Wandsworth.
Our schemes are most effective for young people who have the desire and potential to live independently.
Support
Once a young person has been nominated to us we will allocate them a support worker who will work in partnership with them and any other appropriate professionals.
We help young people:
- understand their rights and responsibilities as tenants (including regular rent payments and all the skills that are involved in maintaining a home)
- live on a budget
- look after their health (including using dental and medical services, eating properly and maintaining a good standard of personal hygiene)
- take personal responsibility (encourage them to feel confident when dealing with people in authority, from doctors to solicitors to the Department of Social Security)
- learn self discipline
- plan for the future (encourage them into education and training, and to find work).
Care leavers
We have three services in Hammersmith for young people who leave care, with Support Officers available seven days a week.
Support for young mothers and babies
We have six mother and baby homes in South London.
Support Officers are on hand seven days a week and can help with advice, information and emotional support.
