Young people's services
The Youth Engagement Team is dedicated to helping young people to develop themselves, get involved in what we do and have the opportunity to shape Notting Hill's services. Our work is grouped into three main areas.
Activities and training opportunities
Our Positive Futures programme is for young people aged from 12 to 19 who live in the country's most deprived areas. We are proud to have been involved since 2003, have helped hundreds of young people and are the only housing association working with this national social inclusion programme.
As part of Positive Futures, we run a broad range of group training activities, often with local voluntary or statutory partners. These include activities such as music production, fitness sessions, money management, creative writing, photography and drama. We have even run DIY skills workshops to help young people love where they live.
Use our contact information at the bottom of the page to get involved. Click here to find out more about the national Positive Futures programme.
Personal development
Achieve is a personal development project for young people aged 14 to 25. The team provide support to individual young people to achieve their aspirations through a range of one-to-one support, volunteering and work placement opportunities and access to training and employment.
Achieve is very popular with young people - in fact, most of our referrals come from friends of those who we have already helped. Part of its success is due to the simplicity of our system of assigning each young person with a support worker who becomes their single point of contact for all support services.
Involvement and contribution
The team works with young people to build their capacity to have a voice and to get involved in local decision making. We are committed to increasing the involvement of our young tenants in shaping services through them particitpating in services panels, mystery shopping and many other areas of the business. Our Youth Forum takes a lead in this process and is open to young NH residents.
About us
The team covers all areas in which Notting Hill has properties, but our main focus is on the seven key boroughs in which we have the highest number of young people living in:
- Barnet
- Ealing
- Hammersmith & Fulham
- Hillingdon
- Hounslow
- Kensington & Chelsea
- Wandsworth
The team works closely with a range of local partners in these areas on youth projects that meet the needs of a diverse range of young people.
Vision
Our vision is:
- To actively encourage young people to realise their aspirations by accessing opportunities and making informed choices that will positively shape their futures.
- To support young people to have a voice and empower them to influence change in their lives, their communities and the wider world.
- Support young residents to love where they live.
