Have your circumstances changed?
You must tell us (as well as your local housing benefit office) about any change in your circumstances.
For example:
- if your household income changes – including the income of other people you live with
- if people move in or out or your house
- if your rent increases
- if you are going away for more than a few weeks.
These are just examples and not a full list of changes we will need to know about.
What happens
If you fail to report any changes to your circumstances, you may be paid too much benefit (which you will have to pay back) or have your claim suspended.
The rules on housing benefit are quite complicated, so if you are not sure about any part of your claim, you should contact our Collections Team or your local housing benefit office for advice.
More information
If you are a temporary housing tenant and have any questions about which changes in your circumstances you need to let us know about, contact our Collections Team on 020 8357 4540 or homeoptionsrents@nhhg.org.uk.
