Subletting

Unlawful subletting stops families on waiting lists or in temporary accommodation from moving on to permanent housing.

What is unlawful subletting?

Unlawful subletting happens when a tenant signs a tenancy agreement with a landlord but doesn't live in the property. Instead, he or she charges someone else to live in the property and earns money from the rent.

Unlawful subletting is a very serious matter. You can be prosecuted for fraud if you are found to be unlawfully subletting.

How do I report unlawful subletting?

You can report unlawful sub-letting in confidence. Contact us on 020 8357 4531 or homeoptionsvisits@nhhg.org.uk.

We will investigate your claim and take action to remove the subletter.

If the property is not managed by Notting Hill Housing we will report your claim to the local authority to investigate.
